I'm going to paint a bunch of squigs (and some goblins). Actually, there's going to be more goblins than squigs in this block, as I've already painted a bunch of squigs this year, and this lot makes the army more of a proper army when playing WHFB.
These are my targets for the rest of the year:
During August (these are all already basecoatandwashed): - Boss onna big squig. - 12 squig hoppers. - 6 night gobbo herders.
September: - 15 night gobbo bows.
October: - 15 night gobbo spears.
November: - 10 night gobbo spears. - 6 fanatics.
December (less models, but they're all more complicated character models): - Night gobbo shaman. - Stinkmullet. - The Gobbapalooza.
This, plus the existing painted 15 squigs, 3 hoppers, 4 herders, and the goblin warband from Shadespire, will give me at least 1000 points in WHFB6, an AoS Path To Glory host (maybe even a viable AoS army), a viable Dragon Rampant warband, and they should work in Erehwon and other things too.
The original plan with this army was 1000 points of night goblins, focussing on squigs. Buy it, paint it. Then, add 1000 points of forest goblins, focussing on spiders. And, I wanted to kitbash that lot to use night goblin models instead of forest goblins, and paint up cave spiders... Buuuut, the forest goblin aesthetic has grown on me, so I may not. (And, I'm an idiot, so of course I've already got the forest goblin models...)
Now I just got to not get distracted by real life, or other shiny things.
Oooo... 7TV... Oooo... Scenery...

Look here you rapscallion, if you don't start updating with WIPs and PIPs and finished figures I'm... I'm... I'm not going to comment on your thread any more!
... wait.
Bugger.

This is what I'm going to try and get painted by the end of the year. I need to plan monthly divisions. And, the ones with paint already on them, they're WiP, and I've been working on them this and last month.

Oh they look great! Proper old metal Fanatics, too - and the multipart mega-gobbos from 6th! I must admit I didn't like those as much as the Battle For Skull Pass ones that make up my own Night Goblin army. Which, actually, I really must finish... I digress. I'm looking forwards to seeing you get paint on them!

Thank you.
I've had those gobbos sat around in bits in ziplocs in the leadpile since somewhere at the end of the ninties. Bout time I did something with them.
The Skull Pass ones are proper nice. I've got a bunch of the spider riders from that.
Ah, yeah. I was inspired a few years back when informed by Timmy Fisher of the ludicrousness that was the squig bomb. Felt slightly trolltastic (as in, 'I want to troll people with the squig bomb'), so bought a load of squigs, pulled goblins out of the leadpile, built em all, undercoated em, got round to playing them once, boxed em.
Now, it's finally time to get some painting done. And maybe even play some games with them...

I may regret asking. What is a Squig Bomb?

So. Squigs need herders, otherwise they go wild. Originally, that meant that for each 2 or 3 squigs, you needed a herder. If no herder, they go wild. You scatter the squig 2d6", and it attacks whatever it contact. Like a fanatic, but less self-destructive.
Now, imagine a unit of 10-15 squigs, shove that unit forward into the middle of the enemy army, then deliberately get the herders killed. Put them in the front rank or something.
Boom.
Also, just think about resolving all that scattering of squigs and how much time and ballache that would be...
Later editions, they just said that if there's no herders, the unit breaks. If the unit breaks from that, or from being beat in combat, all models within d6" of any squig get bitten, then remove the unit from play.
Also, boom.

I've made a decision on what my goals will be, so the first post has been updated appropriately.
I was hoping to have made a start on finishing off those basecoatandwashed models already, so I could have something done for the start of august, but, life is conspiring against me. Between playing 7TV and painting a cast for the current campaign (12 police + detectives, to go up against triffids), getting my Venice on (scenery project), the current heatwave, and some stressful life stuff going on, I've not got a paintbrush to a goblin yet this month.
So, yeah, those basecoatandwashed dudes are the first batch. They'll take less time than the ones with just undercoats, so I'll do more of them.

Halfway mark for the month. Aside from painting one policeman for another project, I've not had my head in it, and only picked up a paintbrush about 4 days ago. (And then took a crappy photo (sorry).) Right. Next up, the rest of the police, then 9 squig hoppers.
