The Tombs of Geistenmund (WFB terrain thread)

So the People's Panting is dragging his arse up here at the end of the month to play some games, enjoy some Adult Beverages, and then play some more games once we're both reliably ratarsed and have even less grasp of the rules than normal. Which means I need to be a good host and provide some terrain. Which in turn means slapping some paint on the Sigmarite Mausoleum two Gardens of Morr I bought shortly after moving in here. So those are primed and sitting out the back waiting to dry.



I know that traditionally speaking, Middlehammer terrain is lovingly hand-made in accordance with the principles of Old Man Stillman and his holy work "How To Make Wargames Terrain" and, back in the day, all of mine was. But I am not a man who can say no to a bargain, and when these suitably spooky plastic buildings and the matching neoprene mat to put them on were available at knock down prices I said yes and damned the consequences. I generally gravitate to playing undead armies anyway, so I have very few issues with my battlefield being a snowed-in wasteland dotted by crypts, tombs, graves and long, easily-defended fences. It makes a nice change from the generic green fields with generic green hills and generic green trees, or the famous battle of Whatever Was On The Store Table When We Arrived.

Sadly, neither of my Middlehammer armies are based to match this terrain (although all my newer figures have been), so it's going to look a little weird, but only a little. I take solace in the knowledge that I've sat down and thought about appropriate scenarios to play over this battlefield, and have whipped up a cheerful little mini-campaign that we should be able to play through in the course of an afternoon...
