Since I was a boy I’ve always dreamt of owning a painted Bretonnia army, but I have never found the time and/or the patience. Hopefully, it will happen this time! I am hoping that a blog like this could keep me at it, and any C&C would be much appreciated! I have recently spend way to much money on trading groups and eBay, and I am now the proud owner of an almost complete collection of the 5th edition Bretonnia miniatures - including two shoeboxes full of horses... My friend and I plan to play a campaign like the one described in the back of the Battle Book from the 5th ed Starter set. Only change we’ve decided on is starting on 600 points. My starting list will be: -General of Bretonnia Knightly Virtue Crown of Bretonnia Enchanted Shield -10 Men at Arms w Halberds, sta & mud -6 Knights is the Realm w. sta & mus Standard of Shielding -10 Bowmen Here’s a couple of photos of my first finished units. I still need to find a movement tray solution. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Let me be the first to say : that's a great start on a classic army. Looking forward to the next update.

These are lovely. Natural colours, then a nice splash of heraldry, really works with these guys. (I hope mine turn out this nice.)

Feel like I’ve just opened a late ‘90s White Dwarf. Green base edges and everything! Really crisp paint job and lovely bold colours! I can’t wait to see this army develop!

Thank you for the comments; it’s very motivating! I tried to find a compromise between not to screaming goblin green and so realistic that it makes the somewhat cartoonish and non-detailed models look weird.
I am currently working on movement trays. I have ordered some mdf-lasercut-thingies and I am trying to magnetise them with steel sheets from Green Stuff World.

Absolutely gorgeous. Makes me want to crack out my own 5th Edition Bretonnians (the best Bretonnians there ever were in my opinion) and work on them a bit more!

Stunning looking army and love the colours they Bretts had with their heraldry and cavalry. What's next to paint then?

Ten man infantry units. I remember those!
I've never quite gotten on with the eyeblinding variety of the Bretonnians, but these are doing it for me. Something about the desaturated tones, on the bases and elsewhere, takes the edge off that intense colour.

Thanks for all the nice comments, everybody! I have finished my first 600 points, so I’m ready for our league. I don’t quite know what the next unit will be, but probably more knights! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

We are doing the multiplayer campaign that’s described in the 5th Battle Book. Hopefully it’ll give us lots of narrative campaigns and help us slow grow our armies.

Gotta love those old-school wedge formations for the Knights, very characterful. Looking good!
